Our Staff

You’re never too old to stop learning.

All of our staff are CPR and First Aid certified. They attend classes, workshops and seminars regularly to stay up date with current regulations and practices in the field of childcare.

In addition to our Directors, we have a great staff that includes classroom teachers and classroom aids. Everyone here at QUMC Kidz takes great pride in their work. We all love coming to work each and every day to enrich the lives of children.

Carol Gage

Carol Gage, husband (Loren Gage) married 51 years. I have 2 daughters, Angela Cooper married to Jeremy Cooper, one daughter Sarah (15 years old). Andrea Norman married to Daniel Norman, one daughter Emma (12 years old). My hobbies include crafts and reading. We travel once a year to Forsyth Georgia to visit our daughter (Andrea) and family.  While there we traveled about 3 hours south to Savannah, Ga. Tour the beautiful city of Savannah, we eat at Paula Dean’s Restaurant. We also visited Atlanta, Ga. We travel to the St. Lawrence River area, (Massena, Ogdensburg, Canton, and Potsdam) Northwest of Queensbury, NY.

I chose a career in childcare because of the experiences I grew up with as a foster child. I wanted to make a positive experience in children’s and family’s lives.

My work experience includes 48 years of working with children to partner with parents to teach social, academic and hygiene skills. 13 years owning and managing my in-home daycare, 2 years working in a church daycare in Pennsylvania, 7 years worked in ARC program in Malone, NY, worked 15 years in Washington County Daycare, 7 years in Warren County Daycare, and 4 years with my husband as live-in Foster Parents to 10 teenage girls in Macon, Ga.

My husband and I currently live in Queensbury, NY.

Whaley

Hi! My name is Joanne Whaley. I am a wife of 28 years to my best friend, the proud mother of two great young men and grandmother to an amazing 3-year-old girl. 26 years ago, I left Central Square, NY when my husband was promoted to a construction management position in the Capital region for a Syracuse based company that he was employed by and have been a Queensbury resident ever since.

I completed my education in May 1996 when I earned an AAS/Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) degree from Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY. I did this while caring for our 3-year-old son, pregnant with our 2nd child and my husband was on the road working out of town all week. Since becoming a PTA my preferred field of interest has always been pediatric physical therapy. My first job was with Pemberton Associates at the Oswego County BOCES in Mexico, NY. When we moved here to Queensbury in Nov. 1997, I initially worked at Glens Falls Hospital as an outpatient pediatric PT and with home care pediatric PT patients. In 1999 I started working at Prospect Child and Family Center as a PTA, working with their special need pediatric students. My youngest son began Kindergarten and my oldest was in 4th grade here at Queensbury UFSD in the Fall of 2001, it was then, that I took a position with the Saratoga Springs City School District (SSCSD), Physical Therapy Department where I was able to follow a school schedule with school vacations and summers off, like my 2 sons. This allowed me to continue to follow my passion, working as a PTA, providing PT to the Special Needs pediatric population and spending the holidays and summers with my boys. For 21 years, I have worked as a PTA at SSCSD with students, grade levels ranging from K-12. Throughout the 21 years I have worked at SSCSD, I have worked in all 6 elementary schools, MS, and HS in Saratoga Springs as well as Saratoga Springs area private schools.

For 26 years we have lived here, our children have been involved in various Queensbury school sports, Band/Orchestra, Boy Scouts and working summer jobs including the Great Escape. My family and I are very active camping, skiing, snow shoeing, bicycling, hiking, paddleboarding, and kayaking. We enjoy going to the many local lakes and beaches in the area, watching the horses run at the Saratoga racetrack, seeing the motorcycles at Americade and the antique cars at the car show in Lake George. We love to go apple picking, visiting the ice castles and we have attended the balloon fest every year since we moved here. My 3-year-old granddaughter also lives here in the Queensbury area and has already joined us in “all of the above” activities listed, but really loves skiing the most. Her favorite mountain to ski with Grandpa is White Face, because of its rich Olympic History. Grandpa has even considered coaching Queensbury softball in a few years with her like he did with our boys in Queensbury Little League and only hopes he would have the same effect of teaching the players to master basic skills and to love the game.

I will do my best to bring my all-in attitude and positive outlook to life, to my classroom and hope to be a positive influence on all those around me, especially your children. I am truly looking forward to the start of the upcoming school year.

We also have a group of wonderful substitutes who are ready to step in whenever needed.
